Hello! Welcome to Rock-A-Bye Parents!
Hello and welcome to Rock-A-Bye Parents! I’m Elizabeth, and I am a busy single mom to an amazing little guy (Nick). I started Rock-A-Bye Parents in the fall of 2011, when Nick was only five months old. I have always been a very creative person, but once Nick was born I quickly found that I no longer had time for many of the creative outlets I used to enjoy. The idea of blogging just sort of came to me, and the rest is history. As a language arts major I have always loved to write, so between the writing and the creative things I put together for blog posts I truly found the new creative outlet I needed. I love that the parenting theme of my blog allows me to cover a variety of topics as I feel that my life is the same type of collaboration of things happening.
You may notice that I have a separate area just to focus on food allergies. When Nick was nine months old I fed him a scrambled egg, and it turned out to be one of the most scary moments of my life because he had a sever reaction. Luckily for us Nick is showing signs that he will outgrow his allergy, but I have found that there isn’t a lot of information or support for allergy parents out there. I have made it my mission to help all those scared parents. One of the scariest things for us is worrying that someone won’t know enough about food allergies and will feed our children something that could potentially kill them. That sounds extreme, but it’s a fear allergy parents live with every day, so I feel it’s important for everyone to know and understand how they work.
The blog and Nick keep me very busy, but they aren’t the only things. I’m also a Jamberry Indpendent Consultant which I love. My nails have always been my beauty weakness, so basically getting paid to have my nails done is like a dream come true. I’m also a substitute teacher. I graduated with my teaching degree, but there aren’t many jobs available in our area when I got done with school. Truly it worked out for the best though because subbing gives me the flexibility I need as a single mom. When I actually find free time, I like to read and sew. I also love to travel, and I especially love our Disney vacations. I actually am a past cast member myself as I did the Disney College Program in fall 2014.
