Well, I’m a little late getting your letter up this month, (OK I’m really late partly because you’ve been so sick) but I still got it done! Things have been quite hectic for us since school started back up. We were so spoiled over the summer with things. The school’s Mommy works in have extended their days this year, so now we’re away from home even longer than we used to be. By the time we make it home we’re both exhausted and beyond ready to eat dinner. Needless to say getting back into the school routine has been a rough transition, but we’re starting to get the hang of it. With the way things are going I think I’ll be able to work from home more again which will be really good for both of us.
September was certainly a big month since you started back to school. I can’t believe that you’re in your last year of preschool! Truthfully I try not to think about because it just makes me sad. Instead I’m trying to focus on the now and enjoy this last year before the real school craziness starts. You were not at all happy about going back to school. You still went to school a few days every week over the summer, but you could tell this was different, and you weren’t happy about it. No matter what I tried you wouldn’t smile for your back to school picture, but a figure I’ll never forget how you felt this way!
I have to say that you are learning a lot in school this year. You love calendar and weather time and we talk about what day it is and what the weather’s like all the time. You also have been working on spelling and you happily spell your name to us. You have known the letters in your name for awhile, but you never took the time to figure out where they all went. You used to see a letter “k” and go, “K is for Nick!” We had many talks about how Nick ended with a “k” but it didn’t start with it, but you never really cared or paid attention to what I was saying. You’ve got it down now though. Someday we’ll worry about tackling the spelling of Nicholas! You have changed so much since the start of school. It is very obvious that you’re in the older preschool group this year!
We’ve also gotten back into reading books every night before bed. We had read books during the day, but we had fallen out of routine of doing it at night. I know how important that story time is for you, so I made sure that we started to do it again. Getting out your Halloween books really helped spur you on to wanting to do it too. It is so nice spending that time together again too. With being back in school so much I could tell you were craving more Mommy attention time, and reading time totally took care of that.
Now it’s on to October! Well since I was so late with this letter were already well into October, but there is quite a bit left. I know this month is going to be a lot of fun because you are so excited for Halloween. I love it! Here’s to a great new month!
