September 4, 2015
Well, September has arrived. Back in June when school got out September felt so far away. We had weeks and weeks to stay home together, but now all we have left is the holiday weekend. Where does time go? You start back to school on Tuesday. There aren’t a lot of sub jobs the first week of school, so I’ll likely start back the following week. Actually that’s a pretty good thing because it will allow me to take you to school for only half days so you can ease back into things. You have really enjoyed spending so much time at home this summer and I have a feeling the transition isn’t going to be easy. Hopefully I’m wrong because I’m already worried about going through this next year when you have to go to elementary school where you don’t know any of the students or the teachers. I suppose I shouldn’t worry about something that’s still a year away, but you’ll learn that Mommy has a hard time not planning things. Even if they’re, in your words, “way far away!”
August turned out to be a pretty fun month. We started by spending a day at Cedar Point, or Snoopy’s house as you call it. You had the best time. You loved all of the rides and seeing the Peanuts characters. You even wanted to go up and see Snoopy and give him a hug. You don’t dislike characters, but it takes you a long time to feel comfortable enough to interact with them. In fact you were very happy to just wave at all of the other characters from afar, but you really wanted to meet Snoopy.
Of course we also had a very fun day at the water park for our Snackation. You had so much fun with your first water park experience. I’m so glad that I was picked to work on that blogging campaign. We hadn’t had any plans to go to the water park before I was asked to work on it. In fact as we were floating down the lazy river I couldn’t help but think how lucky I was that I was getting paid to for us to play at a water park together. Blogging can be a lot of work, but it has so many wonderful benefits!
While we had some exciting parts in August much of the month was pretty lazy. I think we both wanted to take as much time to relax as we could before the hustle and bustle of school started up again. You’ve been so happy to just play with your toys or watch something on TV. Not that you really sit and watch TV. You’re usually playing while you’re watching unless you’re really tired. You’re like mommy in that way. I can’t just sit and watch TV. I always have to be doing something else at the same time.
You’ve started gaining a lot more independence this past month. Just yesterday I was saying to Nana how much better you are at playing by yourself. You had been a very independent baby, but once you hit the toddler stage you would constantly want someone to play with you or entertain you. Now you’re back to playing by yourself again which is relief to Mommy. I love being able to work at home to be with you, but when you need constant help and attention it becomes very difficult to get anything done!
So here’s to September and another school year. Enjoy the last few days of summer Monkey!
