I have been blogging for almost two and a half years now. During that time I’ve learned a lot about how the blogging world works and about different ways to make money with a blog. I recently realized that while I share so much with all of you, including tips for making and spending money, I haven’t really shared anything that I have learned about blogging. Blogging can be a great way to make some extra money for your family, or even as a full time income, but it takes a lot of work to make money with a blog. Still it can be rewarding in many ways, so I felt I should start sharing the knowledge I have gained with all of you.
Make Money with a Blog: Passive Income
One of the great things about blogging is that you don’t always have to be doing something to make money with a blog. You have to write the post, and take the necessary steps to promote it and get traffic, but after that you just let your post work for you. There are very few jobs that let you make money while you’re sleeping, but blogging is one of them. The easiest ways to make money is through ads and affiliate links. This is also the type of income you’ll start with, and you can start making money with them as soon as you implement them. Since this is a passive income, it’s not going to bring in the big bucks, but once your traffic increases it can bring in some decent money.
Make Money with a Blog: One Time Income
A big way that bloggers with decent traffic can make money is by writing sponsored posts. This is when a company asks you to write a post for them and they pay you an agreed upon amount. Usually this is a one time thing, although it doesn’t have to be. This type of income is a bit more controversial as not everyone in the blogging world thinks that this type of post is a good idea, and Google really doesn’t like it. Still the money it can bring in is nice, and most bloggers end up finding that they need that extra money.
Make Money with a Blog: High Involvement Income
Once you’ve been blogging for some time it’s important to find a way to make a higher level of income. This usually comes when you offer your services to others. The more time and effort you put into your service, the more money you can make from it. The possibilities are truly endless here. Depending on the niche, or focus, of your blog will determine what types of services you’ll offer. You can do everything from writing and selling an eBook, to offering one on one consulting, to selling how to videos.
Every level of income is different, and each will bring in a different income level. The amount of income you’ll make will also heavily depend on the time and effort you’ve put in, and where you are in your blogging experience. Obviously no one is going to fork over a lot of money for consulting services to a blogger that has just started, and that they know nothing about. You have to start small, and work your way up. If you work at it though, you can make a nice income from blogging. In the weeks ahead look for many more posts from me that help break down these forms of income even more. I will also walk you through how to sign up for them and get them going on your blog.
