One Big Birthday Party

by on May 20, 2012

Even though Nick is 13 months old, as of today, we recently got a chance to celebrate his first birthday again with all of his daycare friends. Nick’s daycare has not had a large group of infants for many years, but now they have seven. All of the infants were born last year and their birthday’s all fall between April and July, so the staff that works with the infants thought it would be fun to throw one big first birthday party for them.

The party was this past Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00.  I had to work until 1:00 (Jason had to work all day), so my mom took Nick to the party and I met up with them after work. For the party they grilled hot dogs and there were also other yummy munchies and sides.  They also bought a really good chocolate cake. Nick couldn’t eat any of the cake though due to his allergy, so the night before I made him some egg free chocolate muffins.  I wanted him to be able to enjoy a birthday cake with his other friends, although many of the kids didn’t eat any of the cake.

They had lots of fun things outside for the kids to do.  They had blown up a small swimming pool and had filled it with a lot of different size balls for the kids to play with.  They also brought out a sensory table.  They had put water, and water toys, in it.  The kids had such a wonderful time splashing around.  Not that anyone could blame them considering the temperature was in the 80s. It didn’t take much to entertain these little ones though.  For most of them walking is their new thing, so they were so excited to walk all over the big deck outside the daycare.  Of course we all know that walking around is Nick’s favorite thing to do any time of the day.

At the end of the party all of the kids got a present bag with some birthday goodies in it.  We also brought a book to give to each of the birthday kids!

I’d say all of the kids had a great time.  It was such a sweet idea.  I must say it was also really nice for the parents because while we often see the other kids when we drop off or pick up our little ones we don’t often get to talk to the other parents.  Overall I’d say the big First Birthday Party was a huge success.
