Last year we got the chance to go see Thomas the Train when he came to Greenfield Village at The Henry Ford. Nick was barely a year old, and he really had no clue who Thomas was, but he had the best time. In fact we all had a fantastic time. Before the day was done we had to get Nick some Thomas items from the gift shop. We got him some books (which he loves and even pulled out last night) and a t-shirt. The smallest size that the shirts came in was 2t, so we got it with the intention that he could wear it this year when we go to see Thomas again. Well, now Nick’s going to get his chance because in just a few short weeks Thomas is coming back, and I’ve received tickets to go and review it.
The Day Out with Thomas: The Go Go Thomas Tour 2013 is a fun event that gives children of all ages the chance to take a ride with Thomas the Train. There is so much more to the event than just riding Thomas though. There are also a lot of fun Thomas & Friends themed activities. One of the highlights for the kids in our group last year was playing with the giant toy train display. It was huge, and they actually had spots where the kids could push buttons to make parts of the display work.
The Thomas activities are so much fun, but I must say that having it at Greenfield Village is an added bonus. We love outings to Greenfield Village. It’s such a beautiful location that is full of amazing historical buildings. You can see everything from a working farm, to the actual bike shop that the Wright Brother’s owned, to the house that Henry Ford grew up in. It truly is worth the trip just to visit the village. My grandparents are members, so they are happy to take us to visit often.
The Day Out with Thomas tour has actually already started. It kicked off in March and is expected to welcome nearly one million passengers through November. Thomas will be visiting Greenfield Village for three back-to-back weekends starting April 27. During that time families can take a 25 minute ride around the Village on their favorite engine, meet Sir Topham Hatt®, Controller of the Railway, and enjoy the Thomas & Friends themed activities.
Thomas the Tank Engine rides begin at 9:30am and depart every 30 minutes through 5:00 pm every day, and they will depart rain or shine. Tickets for the Day Out With Thomas: The Go Go Thomas Tour 2013 are $11.75 for members, age 1 year and older and includes free admission to Greenfield Village.
